FASHION SHOW 2010
Update 9/29/10: Dogster's Spay & Neuter Program of Durango and the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs held their 2nd Annual 'Struttin' at the Strater Fashion Show at the Strater Hotel in Durango on Saturday, September 25th. Guests enjoyed the afternoon being entertained by Emcee Bob Hite who provided eloquent descriptions of fashions from Happy Trails, Blu Boutiques, Durango Tradition, Gloss, and other favorite retail stores. The guests were served wonderful wine and hors d'oeuvres from a host of waiters who strut their stuff to make sure the attendees are well served as they compete for tips to raise additional funds for the event. This year the winning waiters were St Bernard Dog aka Dr. James Irish as Best Dressed attire for the event, 1st Place for Best Strutin' Waiter went to Steve Schwartz, and 2nd Place went to John Sowerby. Thank you to all the sponsors and volunteers who gave of their time or money to the Fashion Show event.

This is not the first time that Dogster's and Humane Society of Pagosa Springs (HSPS) have joined together for a project. In 2005 they launched "Operation Care for a Pet" to coordinate an effort to help the dogs and cats misplaced by the Katrina Hurricane. Over 70 dogs and 35 cats were flown to Durango's La Plata Airport and were processed by 4 local veterinarians who performed health assessment before the animals were vaccinated, microchipped, groomed and placed in pre-approved foster homes until they could be re-united with their owners or be placed in new permanent loving homes. Six other humane societies/animal groups and over 100 volunteers also came to help with this mass undertaking.

Both Dogster's of Durango and the Humane Society are dedicated to fighting pet overpopulation through spay and neuter programs. Fundraising events helps both organization to support these programs. For more information on assistance in spay/neuter your pet in Durango contact 247-DOGS and in Pagosa Springs 731-4771.
